Five mini documentaries creatively use the State Library’s heritage collection items – including letters, diaries, journals, photographs and oral recordings – to bring to life and share uniquely Western Australian stories from our State’s history. Exploring topics ranging from the history of Connections nightclub to the potential Russian invasion of Albany in the late 19th century.
The State Library of Western Australia and Screenwest jointly support the films through the WA Reflections initiative that supports WA filmmaking teams to produce a short documentary film of up to five minutes in duration. The films are below and available on the State Library Youtube channel.
Each film was presented in 2023 through a series of free screenings and panel discussions with the film makers, subjects and experts on the topic in the State Library Theatre.
