Perth Cultural Centre

The State Library is located in the Perth Cultural Centre, Northbridge, between Francis Street and James Street.  The Library is next to the Western Australian Museum and the Art Gallery of WA. It is within walking distance of the main city shopping and business districts.  Entry to the Library is via James Street or Francis Street.

Public transport

The Library is a short walk north of the Perth Railway Station and the Wellington Street Bus Station. Blue CAT buses travel close to the building with stops in Beaufort, Aberdeen and William Streets. Visit the Transperth Journey Planner.

By car

24 hour undercover parking is available directly beneath the building in the No 11 Perth City Council car park. Entrance to the carpark is from Francis Street. If this is not suitable you can find information on alternative parking in Northbridge and the City of Perth.

Bus parking is available on Beaufort Street (Museum side) or along Francis Street. Contact the City of Perth on (08) 9461 3333 for further information.

By bicycle

Bicycle racks are at the front of the building.


The State Library of Western Australia's, Van Dock Area is located on Francis Street. The driveway is located next to the State Library Car Park and opposite Central TAFE.

There are three 30 minute parking bays available for contractors doing work within the State Library. Any contractor requiring parking must report to the Van Dock Staff for authorisation.

Items can be delivered between the hours of 07:30 and 15:00 Monday to Friday. Deliveries outside these times will not be accepted. All goods must be clearly marked with a receiver’s name. Delivery on pallets must not exceed 1.5 metres high and must be stacked inside the pallet's edge. Any damaged goods will not be accepted. All hazards items must have all relevant MSDS sheets and Van Dock Staff must be contacted prior to the delivery of these items with a date and time of delivery.
