The State Library’s Better Beginnings program supports families to read, talk, sing, write and play every day through long-standing partnerships with public libraries, child health nurses, schools and other community organisations.
In 2025, Better Beginnings will celebrate its 20 years, an enormous milestone for the family literacy program, which is supported by the State Government and founding partner Rio Tinto.
Find out more about literacy, free reading packs or find your child’s next book with their amazing book finder on the Better Beginnings website.
Better Beginnings Family Literacy Community Grants are for community groups and libraries that help promote literacy in 0-5 years old and empower families to read, talk, sing, write and play with their child every day. The final round of grants is now closed.
