Rica Erickson illustrations for 'Triggerplants'

Dr Kate discusses the recently digitised watercolour paintings and ink sketches produced by Dr Rica Erickson for her 1958 book Triggerplants

In 2000, Western Australia’s south west was among the first twenty-five biodiversity hotspots identified. Despite working decades before the concept of a ‘biodiversity hotspot’ was in the public consciousness, Rica’s work helped raise awareness and appreciation of Western Australia’s significant floral diversity and she personally contributed to various environmental conservation efforts.

The illustrations have been digitised and are available online through the State Library catalogue. They can be viewed for free by anyone, anywhere, anytime.
