Accessible toilets

  • The unisex accessible toilet is on the Ground Floor within the library.
  • All other disabled toilets are in male and female blocks.
  • There is a baby change area on the Ground Floor. Please see staff for a key.

Toilets on Levels 1, 2 & 3

These toilets all have similar configuration:

  • External access: Path of travel to the toilet is barrier free. There are 76cm wide doors with D handles on either side of a large airlock that could accommodate all styles of wheelchairs
  • Toilet door: The toilet cubicle door is 77cm wide with a lever handle. The toilet door has a small locking snib.
  • Pan height: 52cm

External access

Perth Cultural Centre entrance:

  • Barrier free with a tactile path leading from the Perth Train Station concourse level to the front door.

Francis Street entrance:

  • Steps and a ramp approximately 15 metres long with a change of direction. Ramp slope has a gradient of 1:12. Bench style seating is available outside the door.

External entrances

Perth Cultural Centre door:

  •  One automatic sliding door leads to an airlock with two smaller automatic sliding doors leading into the foyer of the Library. The Southern door is wider.

Francis Street door:

  • One automatic sliding door leads to an airlock with a further automatic sliding door leading into the Theatre foyer.
  • This entrance is easier to navigate for larger wheelchairs.

Internal area

  • Reception and security desk: Standing height with cut-outs at sitting height
  • Security gates from the foyer into the lift area, with 120cm clear open space.
  • A lift accesses the Ground Floor, Mezzanine Level, Levels 1, 2 & 3.
  • Seating in the foyer is low, soft lounge style. Seating and desks throughout the library are standard height with knee access to desks.

  • Good colour contrast and easy to read throughout the facility.

  • Opening hours: Monday to Friday 9.00am to 1.30pm
  • Telephone: 9427 3102
  • Located on the Ground Floor of the library, directly off the main foyer. Access is via automatic sliding doors with manual swing doors to an external dining area.
  • Internal circulation space accommodates all wheelchair sizes, and the counter is at sitting height.
  • Tables and chairs are moveable. Food is on display and visible from sitting height.
