Save Lucy Serventy's Seaweed Scrapbooks

Your support of any amount will help preserve and share one of the State Library’s most intriguing treasures. Seaweed scrapbooks discovered in Lucy Serventy’s papers provide a tantalising glimpse into Western Australia’s marine life in the 1940s.

General Support

Your donation will be directed to the State Library’s area of greatest need. Helping us to deliver services that are responsive to the needs of the community, and offering opportunities for growth, connection and empowerment.

Preservation and Digitisation

Your support will help conservators care for rare and vulnerable items in our collection, including photographs, private archives, films, books, manuscripts, journals, ephemera, architectural plans and maps. Digitisation will enable these to be shared and ensure Western Australia’s cultural legacy endures.

Aboriginal stories and programs

Your support will help the State Library partner with Aboriginal and communities to ensure that their distinctive voices, knowledge and perspectives are respected and celebrated in our collections and programming.

Research

Your support will help researchers in various fields and disciplines, to contribute to a greater public understanding of the State Library collection.

Kay Poustie Scholarship

Your support will enable a library professional and practitioner to experience innovative and best practice library services locally or internationally that have the potential to enhance the Western Australian public library network. Recipients are required to produce a research report and present their findings.

Kay Poustie (1944-2009) had a long and distinguished career in the library profession and was held in high regard by her colleagues for her innovation and achievements in the field. In 2008 Kay was awarded the Medal of Order of Australia and was recognised as a Library Board of Western Australia Fellow in 2010.
