Dr Paola Magni is a globally recognised forensic scientist and fierce advocate for ending violence against women and children. Using the clues left behind by insects and other small creatures at crime scenes, Paola saw at first hand that the majority of victims were women. It led to her vocal stance on domestic and gender-based violence, and for her to focus research on helping to solve some of the most complex murders and crimes.
Amongst her many accolades for her ground-breaking research, Dr Magni was inducted into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame in 2022, for her contribution to the fields of forensic entomology, aquatic forensics, education, and technology. Come and hear from a remarkable West Australian woman.
Women in Conversation at the State Library is part of a suite of women-centred programming in 2025. Hear from some of WA’s groundbreaking and inspirational women who have become leaders and mentors in their chosen fields and actively give back and build communities.
