Told through the lives of three vision impaired people his work has impacted, this is the story of how Arnold Cook overcame the loss of his eyesight to win a scholarship to London where he was paired with Dreena, a black Labrador who became Australia’s first guide dog when she returned with him to Perth. His story is mirrored in the life experiences of three guide dog owners in Perth whose lives have been changed because Arnold founded the guide dog training foundation to help others like himself have the freedom and independence that Dreena gave him.
This documentary is a part of WA Reflections, a short documentary film series aimed at pairing emerging filmmakers with unique WA stories preserved in the State Library's collection.
