Join us for a free workshop to discover the power songs and rhymes have in supporting your child's learning, development and wellbeing.
Singing with your child is one of the simplest ways to build connection, support language development and create joyful learning experiences. In this workshop, parents and caregivers of children aged 0–5 will discover how songs and rhymes help develop vocabulary, early literacy skills, emotional regulation, social bonding, motor skills and cognitive growth.
Through discussion, practical examples, and shared singing experiences, we'll explore why your voice matters, how familiar songs support children's development, and how you can easily incorporate music into everyday routines at home.
The session includes an interactive rhyme time where families can sing together using actions, movement, scarves and shakers, while exploring ways to support children of different ages and abilities.
Leave feeling confident, inspired, and equipped with practical strategies to use songs and rhymes as a fun and meaningful part of everyday family life.
This is a family-friendly event. The first part of the session is for grown-ups, with children supervised nearby by the Better Beginnings and State Library teams within The Story Place. Families will then come together to share a rhyme time session.
