Ever wondered what it takes to create an award-winning photograph?
Join 2025 Ilford Orloff Awards winners Richard Goodwin and Johannes Reinhart as they share the images and subjects that continue to fascinate them, providing a rare insight into the World Behind Their Lens.
Walkley Award winning journalist, writer and photographer Richard Goodwin has spent much of his career hunting out a good story. His most recent book focuses on Bill Angove, one of WA’s most inventive photographers who was hailed internationally as a “creative genius” but largely forgotten in his home state.
Join Richard as he recounts the early influencers who shaped the WA camera community and discover how a small group of community knitters helped him capture the 2025 State Library Narrative Award.
Johannes Reinhart won both the 2025 Ilford WA Professional Photographer of the Year and Fine Art category awards. He is renowned for his powerful photographic style which has earned him plaudits worldwide.
Johannes will reflect on how his photographic practice has developed to encompass a more holistic approach to capturing his subjects.
“To me photography is an unspoken language where you can communicate without the use of words. And like in most art forms, it has the potential to reach the conscious and the subconscious.”
See both of their works featured in The 2025 Ilford Orloff Awards: Photography Exhibition on Levels 1 and 2 of the State Library.
Presented in partnership with the State Library and Pro Photography WA.
