Join us for an interactive workshop learning to make the most of the conversations you are already having with your children aged 0–5.. A free interactive workshop where parents and caregivers learn how to turn everyday moments into powerful opportunities for connection, learning, and language development.

Discover simple ways to build richer conversations with children aged 0–5 through play, routines, and shared experiences. Together, we'll explore practical strategies for making the most of the conversations you're already having every day.

You'll discover how everyday interactions help build vocabulary, support communication skills, strengthen thinking and learning, and deepen connections with your child. Learn how to follow your child's lead, encourage back-and-forth conversations, and create meaningful opportunities for language development through play, shared reading, and daily routines.

This workshop is designed to help parents and caregivers feel confident using simple, practical strategies that fit naturally into family life. Come along and discover how small moments of conversation can make a big difference to your child's learning, development, and wellbeing.

This is a family-friendly event. The first part of the session is for grown-ups, with children supervised nearby by the Better Beginnings and State Library teams within The Story Place. Families will then come back together to enjoy a shared story and participate in hands-on activities that bring the workshop strategies to life through play and exploration.
