Dame Mary Durack Miller DBE OBE (20 February 1913 - 16 December 1994) was born to the heritage of a pioneering family. Long recognised as one of Australia’s great literary figures, she wrote 15 books, short Stories, poetry, plays and film scripts.

At the time of her death in 1994 she was working with producer Paul Barron on the screen adaptation of Kings in Grass Castles.
