Untapped Australian Literary Heritage Project

Most Australian books ever written are now out-of-print and unavailable to readers. That includes local histories and memoirs, beloved children’s titles – and even winners of our most glittering literary prizes.

Untapped is a collaboration between authors, libraries and researchers to bring back to life some of these lost literary treasures.

The collection includes books by great Western Australian authors including Katherine Susannah Prichard, T.A.G. Hungerford, Steve Hawke and Tom Flood.

Find a full list of all the books available free thanks to the Untapped Literary Project.

You can access this collection free in Western Australia if you are a member of a Library.  If you are not a member join the library now.

Once you are a member download either the Borrowbox or OverDrive app and search for Untapped.

Untapped collection will now be available in print!

October 2022 Update: The project had expected that the Untapped books would only be available in digital form, but thrillingly, Untapped were able to enter into a deal with Brio Books (part of Booktopia) to publish almost the entire collection. 147 of the participating authors/estates took up the offer to have a new print edition. The participants are rapt about having their out-of-print books available again, and so grateful to the library partners who have made this possible.
