Presented by Aimee Chan. Exhibited in partnership with Barking Gecko Arts AWESOME Arts Festival and Art on the Move.
From childhood sketches to first stories on scraps of paper, Juvenilia invites visitors to explore the formative works by the creators of Australia’s beloved children’s literature. Showing at The Story Place Gallery, this fascinating exhibition celebrates the beginnings of great storytelling careers, from Andy Griffiths and Alison Lester to WA’s very own Dianne Wolfer, Kylie Howarth, and more.
Discover the ideas, experiments and early inspirations that shaped some of Australia’s most familiar stories.
Teachers and Students
Juvenilia provides a powerful way to show students that every accomplished author and illustrator once started with a first draft, a rough sketch or an unfinished idea, encouraging young people to value their own creative journeys and keep developing their storytelling skills.
