Johannes Reinhart winner of the 2025 Ilford WA Professional Photographer of the Year and Fine Art Photographer of the Year, with Kym Peacock from Ilford, Professional Imaging.
On 24 July 2025, the winners of the third annual Ilford Orloff Awards were announced at a ceremony held at the State Library of Western Australia. Presented by industry association Pro Photography WA, the awards celebrated the best in Western Australian photography over the past year.
The major winner of the night was Johannes Reinhart, who was named the 2025 Ilford WA Professional Photographer of the Year and Fine Art Photographer of the Year. German-born Reinhart, who now calls Perth home, is an acclaimed photographer and educator whose work has been exhibited globally.
Documentary photographer Fiona Birt took home four awards for her striking photographs of unscripted moments in Vietnam and India — the Izzy Orloff Award, Travel Best Print, Documentary Best Print and Documentary Photographer of the Year.
The State Library of Western Australia Narrative Award, for a photograph depicting a local subject, story or location, went to Richard Goodwin for capturing the Poppy Sisterhood, a craft group that knits items for breast cancer survivors.
Paul Jarvis won the coveted Ilford Signature Print and the Richard Woldendorp Award for Best Landscape Print for his angelic photograph of a Yellow-billed Spoonbill gliding in to land at Nyanyi Yandjip (Yanchep National Park).
A free exhibition showcasing the exceptional work of the winners and finalists is running at the State Library until 8 February 2026, stretching across Levels 1 and 2.
The awards are named after Abraham "Izzy" Orloff (1891–1983), one of Western Australia's most prolific and avant-garde professional photographers. Based in Fremantle, Izzy was renowned for his street photography, portraiture and ability to capture everyday moments. His archive remains one of the treasures of the State Library's heritage collection.
The annual awards are run by Pro Photography WA, the Western Australian industry association for professional photographers.
