Our Reading and Writing Fund supports what unites many of us—our love for reading and writing. It supports the State Library’s important advocacy work for the State’s literary sector, including our Read WA collection and the annual Western Australian Premier’s Book Awards, which supports, develops and recognises excellence in writing.
The Reading and Writing Fund also supports our in-person and online author workshops across the State for those seeking to enhance their writing. It provides employment opportunities for emerging writers as Writers-in-Residence and underpins a range of sector initiatives in collaboration with the WA writing sector.
Supporting Western Australia’s place in the national and international literary landscape at a critical time of sector professionalisation, the Reading and Writing Fund supports our emerging writers and ensures important Western Australian voices of today and tomorrow can continue to be heard. Your involvement will connect you with the most exciting talent coming out of Western Australia and provide you with the opportunity to meet and hear from current and future generations of readers, writers and storytellers.
