Health Department

The files of the Health Department and its predecessors (see AN 120 and Agency 34 , Agency 35 & Agency 36 ) cover a variety of subjects associated with health. Amongst them are personal and other files relating to staff matters and files relating to patients, lunatics, Aboriginal people, Asians, medical officers, matrons, and nurses. Also listed are Local Board of Health files, hospital files and files dealing with a myriad of subjects including plague, vaccinations, quarantine, leprosy, the goldfields, and public hygiene. (some of these files are restricted).
