• AU WA S2941 CONS 36/058: Colonial Secretary’s Office Inward Correspondence. Original records of the 1837 Census (not complete)
  Details include the names and occupations of people residing on certain properties (a typed copy of the 1837 census is held in the State Library collections).
• AU WA S4162 CONS 101: 1859 Census Returns for York
  Only the returns for York have survived from the 1859 census. The returns can show locality, name, sex, age, marital status, religion, occupation, literacy, status in Colony (whether convict of free), name of ship and year of arrival, where born, where married, number of male and female Aboriginal persons in permanent employment and agriculture and stock details.
