Perth Building Society - Appointments
The Society was founded in 1862 by Attorney General G.F. Stone, Lt. Col. J. Bruce, Adjutant General W. Knight, Rev. G.P. Pownall and Magistrate H. Wakefield. The first loan of 50 pounds was given against the security of land on which the GPO now stands. PBS became the Challenge Bank in 1987. The collection includes biographical sketches, files of historical documents, legal documents, list of directors and other appointments (1862-1973), minutes (1863-1947), notes (1863), a share certificate (1863), and photographs.
