Church Archives

Church records of interest to family history researchers include baptismal, marriage and burial registers. While the Battye Library holds a large collection of these records, there may be others (especially more recent records) still held by the church. Many local parishes in both the metropolitan area and the country could still hold such records and the researcher seeking information on a person who lived in a particular suburb, town or district should contact the local church in that area. Other records may be held by the various church archives.
