In November, the State Library of Western Australia hosted an exhibition and book launch for the City of Melville's Write Club, a writer and artist in residence program with year six students from Caralee Community School. Under the mentorship of author Deb Fitzpatrick and artist Zali Morgan, students developed a creative writing project and lino prints that responded to the theme "A Giant Leap".
The exhibition and accompanying book were the culmination of their creativity and dedication. The book, A Giant Leap, will be on the shelves at the State Library. You can see the exhibition and incredible work again at AH Bracks Library + Creative Space, Melville, in January 2024
Write Club is a multi-week author and artist-in-residence project for primary school students, building young people's literacy skills, confidence, and sense of belonging.
The State Government of WA supported this project through a Creativity for Schools grant.
