This event is for

We know the world needs to change, and we know young people are leading the charge through campaigns like School Strikes 4 Climate and Black Lives Matter. But where do you start? And how do you turn our drive for change into a movement?

Led by the team from the Youth Affairs Council of WA (YACWA), the state’s peak body for youth advocacy and the youth sector, Young Changemakers offers a crash course for young people into how to be an advocate.

Hear from two leading WA youth advocates – Elizabeth Knight of Purposeful and Chey Henderson-Watkins of the Youth Pride Network – about crafting your message, targeting your stakeholders and how to prioritise self-care as an activist. Then, join us for a youth panel and hear from four other youth advocates, exploring how they work to make change in their communities.

Whether it’s climate action, mental health, trans rights or homelessness – whatever your passion, this session is a vital introduction to bringing about the change you want to see in the world.
