Roam a closed adventure park, explore an iconic Iwanoff home or fly from the ground to the sky as Perth's building history grows around you. In collaboration with XR: WA, three immersive virtual reality experiences return.

Come and immerse yourself in the world of VR as the State Library presents a suite of innovative content that allows you to explore facets of our world in new and exciting ways.

The State Library will have a number of VR headsets available and staff on hand to help you to try a range of VR experiences that will impart knowledge, shift perceptions and entertain.

More dates have been added (23, 28 and 30 March) for Perth Design Week (PDW). PDW is a dedicated public festival celebrating and showcasing good design. The inaugural PDW will be held in Perth city / Boorloo and surrounds from 23-30 March 2023.

VR returns on the 29 and 30  April for the Boorloo Heritage Festival. A month-long celebration of our built, natural, and cultural heritage to our vibrant city. For these dates register on the Eventbrite - Perth Heritage and History in Virtual Reality.

Perth Modulated VR: A City in Flux is a breathtaking time-lapse VR experience of Perth's growing and changing architecture. This stunning architectural VR story takes the viewer on a journey from the ground up to a bird’s eye view utilising elements from State Library collections and material supplied by architects and the Perth community. With key focus points on buildings of significance or interest in Boorloo; Perth Modulated shows the changing architectural landscape up to the latest construction at Elizabeth Quay.

El Caballo Blanco VR: History at your Fingertips, explore the buildings of the legendary resort and Andalusian horse show that operated from 1974 to 1995 in Wooroloo. Through unfettered access to architectural plans, photographs and personal documents held in the State Library collection, this VR experience allows you to explore the area, the buildings and the hidden history of Perth’s legendary El Caballo Blanco.

Reflections of Iwanoff VR Experience: Be transported to mid 20th century Perth via the brutalist designs of renowned West Australian architecture icon Iwan Iwanoff. See a family home designed by Iwanoff rebuilt digitally using the original architecture plans from the State Library’s collections.

Executive Produced by Revelation Perth International Film Festival, XR:WA and State Library of WA. Produced by Viewport XR.
