Sharing Our Diverse Heritage

The State Library presents a series of video interviews capturing the stories of five West Australians with diverse cultural backgrounds, speaking in English and in their first language about their heritage, culture, language and their life in Western Australia.

These videos were commissioned through a partnership project with the Office of Multicultural Interests that focused on the digitisation, conservation, processing and cataloguing of heritage materials that document stories of migration in Western Australia.

The aims of this project are to develop intercultural understanding, recognise W.A’s culturally diverse communities and promote both language education and the use of public libraries in WA. Alongside the digitised collection materials this series of videos aims to tell and celebrate the stories of Western Australia’s diverse culture and its many languages.
