BOLGART (1934 - 1936)

Rica started to develop her skills as a botanical artist and, while happy at Youngs Siding, in 1934 she accepted a position which took her to Bolgart. This posting was to a wheatbelt town that not only boasted a school and a schoolhouse but also a hotel, a railway station with a station master, a bakehouse and two shops. In her early days she went to school every day wearing hat and gloves. While there she appreciated the different natural environment and also became increasingly interested in the early history of the district.
