1969 THE DRUMMONDS OF HAWTHORNDEN

The Drummonds of Hawthornden served as a link between Rica's botanical and historical writing. It is the biography of James Drummond (1784-1863) who was born in Hawthornden, Scotland and arrived in Western Australia on the Parmelia in 1829. He was the first resident government naturalist/botanist and his family established the property of Hawthornden in the Toodyay valley near where Rica lived at Bolgart.
