- Discover how they can work with Copyright legislation
All education programs at the State Library are free of charge.
Where to from here?
Battye Library Tertiary Program
Introduction to accessing and utilising the vast array of unique West Australian resources available in the Battye Library.
This one hour session will cover:
- Accessing the pictorial collection, ordering images, basic photographic copyright regulations
- Microfilm and microfiche machines
- Accessing maps, ephemera and on-line databases
- Simple tips and traps of research
L Plates for new researchers
Prepare your students to be well equipped, confident and informed researchers.
The one hour session covers;
- How to obtain a Researchers Ticket at the State Library
- Locating, requesting and collecting material
- Hands on session in handling rare and archival materials
- Problems and practicalities of using rare and archival material

It is preferable that programs are booked two weeks in advance.
We strongly encourage all visiting groups to contact the library prior
to their visit, even if they do not require a guide or other educational services.
Web Resources
Australia/ New Zealand Reference Centre
Good source of full text international and national magazines, newspaper and reference books. Includes biographies, image collection, maps and links to the video Encyclopedia of the 20th Century.
Business Source Elite
This business resource provides coverage in all areas of business including marketing, management, accounting, finance and economics as well as national and international company profiles and Datamonitor reports.
Encourage students to join their public library for free access to these resources from home or their local public library.
Please be aware that access to online databases from other than the library or home, that is schools and universities is not permitted under the licence agreements held between the Library and Vendors.
