Writing Competitions for Kids
Are you a budding Tim Winton or Elaine Forrestal? Then you may be interested in entering one of the young writer's competitions organised by Western Australian public libraries.

The Mary Durack Award
Established by the Shires of Mundaring, Kalamunda and the Cities of Armadale and Swan in 1979, with the responsibility of the award rotating to a different council each year.
Entrants must reside or attend a school in the Shires of Swan, Mundaring or Kalamunda, or Cities of Armadale or Swan to be eligible.

The Tim Winton Award for Young Writers
The Tim Winton Award was established in 1992 by the City of Subiaco. Entrants need to reside in metropolitan Perth and be between the age of six and seventeen.

The Randolph Stow Young Writers Award
In 1989 the Geraldton Midwest Regional Group of ALIA and the Geraldton Regional Library inaugurated this award as a project to encourage young writers and to promote awareness and use of their public library.
