WA Authors & Illustrators

Write On!

Western Australia is home to many talented authors and illustrators for ages and in all genres.

The pages below will link you to the books that can be found in public libraries, and to other sites that promote our local talent.

Picture Books

Picture Books are not only for young children. Some of these books are for older readers, some are information books with illustrations, and many of the authors write across age groups.

Picture books for young children will be marked as JK, for older children as JF. Information books will have a number.

Junior Fiction and Information Books

Books in this category are mostly for primary school aged kids, but many authors write across the age range, so read more about the books to make sure they are what your kid wants to read.

Young Adult titles

WA is home to many wonderful YA authors writing for secondary school aged kids.

Fiction and poetry for adults

Western Australian authors and poets have won many international and national awards, from the Miles Franklin Award to the Prime Minister's Award for Fiction.

Non-fiction for adults

Memoir, social history and natural history are just some of the subjects covered by local writers.

Have a look at the events page for related author talks and a concert, and enjoy the ANZAC theme running through the exhibition.
