Document Delivery Services

The State Library of Western Australia (SLWA) provides a document delivery service for clients to access items held at the SLWA or other Australian or overseas libraries.

To request a copy from a journal, magazine, book or microfilm please use our copy order form.

Standard Australian Interlibrary Resource Sharing Code (ILRS) charges apply to all items.

Standard Service

For standard requests (shipped within 4 working days)

A$16.50 for articles up to 50 pages (in black and white)
An extra charge of $4.00 will apply to each additional 50 pages.
An additional charge of $2.50 applies for each colour page copied.
Delivery charges may also apply

Rush Service

For items required sooner (shipped within 24 hours, Monday to Friday only)

A$33.00 for articles up to 50 pages (in black and white)
An extra charge of $4.00 will apply to each additional 50 pages.
An additional charge of $2.50 applies for each colour page copied.
Delivery charges may also apply.

Express Service

For items required urgently (shipped within 2 hours, Monday to Friday only)

A$49.50 for articles up to 50 pages (in black and white)
An extra charge of $4.00 will apply to each additional 50 pages.
An additional charge of $2.50 applies for each colour page copied.
Delivery charges may also apply.

If you know your copy request is available at one of the following libraries; you can deal directly with that library by clicking on its name:

Items can also be requested from overseas sources. The State Library will only obtain loans from overseas libraries within the criteria above and when asked to do so by your library, due to higher charges and delays. The borrower will become liable for the charges incurred, whether or not the borrower actually uses the item.

Costs may be higher depending on the type of item requested and the associated shipping charges.

Payments are made once the item has arrived for delivery. Payments can be made in person at the State Library shop or by telephone if paying by credit card.

When you authorise a State Library officer to obtain material from another library, you become liable for the charges incurred, whether or not you actually use the item.

Copyright Conditions:

  • I am aware of my obligations under the Copyright Act 1968 as amended by Section 189 in relation to the use I propose to make of the item to be copied, including but not limited to my obligations to respect the moral rights of authors and creators. I indemnify the State Library of Western Australia against any action arising from breaches of these Acts through my use of the supplied copy.
  • I agree that if I publish, copy, quote, perform, broadcast or display any item provided by the Library, I will only do so in accordance with the Copyright Act and any additional conditions conveyed to me by the copyright owner or the State Library of Western Australia.
  • I agree to include with any use of the copy at least the following information for each item published or quoted: author or creator (if known); title, issue number and date (if a serial or newspaper); identifying number (such as persistent identifier or call number); and acknowledgement that the original copy is owned by the State Library of Western Australia.
  • I agree to place the information listed above on the same page or screen as the published or quoted item, or as close to the item as possible: for example, in a footnote, end-note or footer, as mouse-over text, in credits, on packaging, on the back of a poster or flyer or in an accompanying brochure.
  • I agree that if I publish the material electronically, I will limit the delivery format to a level unsuitable for reproduction at publication quality.
  • I agree that it is my responsibility to verify the accuracy of any information supplied by the State Library about the material I wish to use, including but not limited to information on author/creator name, title and copyright status, and that the Library is not liable for any inaccuracies in this information.
