The Botanical Art Works of Rica Erickson

The Rica Erickson archives in the Battye Library include a large number of original watercolour illustrations of Western Australian plants. This virtual exhibition provides a small sample of those works to illustrate the various plant types that attracted Rica's interest and also the localities in which she worked.

Each illustration is accompanied by two descriptions. The first is Rica's own identification as recorded on the image. The second is from G. Paczkowska & A.R. Chapman The Western Australian Flora: a descriptive catalogue, Wildflower Society of WA (Inc.); WA Herbarium, CALM & Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority, Perth, 2000.

We are grateful to the WA Herbarium for giving permission to include these descriptions and the map of biogeographic regions.
